The Registrar of Political Parties Anne Nderitu has given notice of the intended changes by Ford Kenya party to its party officials.
In the gazette notice dated June 8, Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula has been replaced by Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi in the new line-up.
The new changes also list Josephine Maungu as the new National Organising Secretary replacing Chris Mandu.
Nderitu said anybody with any written submission concerning the intended changes by the political party shall within seven days deposit them with the Registrar of Political Parties.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 20 (1) ( c ) of the Political Parties Act, 2011, the Registrar of Political parties gives notice that the Ford Kenya Party intends to change its party officials,” reads the notice.
The registrar invoked submissions on the intended change of the party officials as provided for under the Political Parties Act.
If on objections are submitted to the registrar within the specified period or are submitted but found not to be substantive, then Wetangula will cease being the party leader.
Last week, the registrar failed to effect changes to the party leadership after the warring factions filed documents at the registrar as the bona fide party members.
The group led by Wamunyinyi and Tongaren MP Eseli Simiyu notified the registrar of a special National Executive Council meeting that replaced Wetangula.
Later, Wetangula team also presented their documents replacing Eseli with Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa as the party’s new secretary general.
However, said the papers filed by Wamunyinyi led faction had gaps as the statutory form PP7 was not properly signed by the authorised officials.
The team trooped back to the registrar’s office on Friday with a new form that appears to have convinced Nderitu to gazette the changes.
Wamunyinyi’s team had accused Wetangula for failing to provide inspiring leadership and planting the seed of discord and disunity in the party.
But Wetangula and his team accused the rivals of being used by other forces to stage a coup in the party.
