Thirdway Alliance party has sent home its secretary general Fredrick Tshombe Okango following a meeting held by the party National Executive Committee.

Party chairman Miruru Waweru on Wednesday said the former SG is not allowed to carry out any form of business on behalf of the party.

His dismissal comes after a statement dated January 27 and signed by him on its stand on the ongoing Building Bridges Initiative.

The statement released had alleged that the NEC had deliberated on many issues, among being the relaunch of Punguza Mizigo 2 which was likely to run alongside the BBI 2 process.

"That some of our NEC members and the public would love to see a merger between Punguza Mizigo 2 and BBI 2 processes instead of running two parallel constitution amendment processes that would confuse Kenyans and undermine each other’s efforts," part of the statement.

It had also indicated that the majority of Kenyans would want Thirdway Alliance to join hands with other political parties in seeing BBI fulfill its mandate.

The statement had also said that the party was ready to work as equal stakeholders with BBI and any other proponents of constitutional amendments.

Last week, the party said it will relaunch its initiative seeking to amend the Constitution.

The statement had, however, indicated that NEC members did not agree on the way forward on this issue of Punguza Mizigo 2.

"That the NEC members did not agree on the way forward on this issue of Punguza Mizigo 2 and therefore for that reason, the intended relaunch is not supported by all NEC members but certain individuals," party statement read.

The Punguza Mizigo Initiative fronted by the party failed to go through county assemblies last year as the majority voted against it.
