The Ministry of Education has reiterated that the National Education Management Information System (Nemis) is here to stay.
While releasing KCSE 2019 results on Wednesday, Education CS George Magoha told off critics.
"I have no sympathy for people who are trying to politicise what I am doing. Nemis is here to stay," Magoha said.
He said the ministry was strengthening the system at the time when some people wanted it to be halted.
"I have been given the powers by the President. I shall call for any data that I need in order to evaluate and check at any time that I want so that I can confirm that my offices are doing what they have to do," Magoha said.
He urged all schools to ensure that details of their students are captured under the NEMIS platform.
He said that a total of 9,112 public secondary schools and 3,915 private schools have been captured under Nemis.
The CS added that three million learners from public secondary schools have been enrolled on the Nemis database, while 112,032 have been enlisted from private secondary schools. At the primary school level, 23,705 public primary schools have been enlisted in the Nemis database.
"At the primary school level, 23,705 public primary schools have been enlisted on Nemis. We have enrolled a combined 6.5 million primary school learners. I wish to ask all parents and teachers to take advantage of the simplified system of issuing birth certificates under the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government to register all learners'.
Magoha said that the system has been useful in helping the government administer the medical insurance scheme for secondary school students, popularly called EduAfya.
The CS has further said that the ministry of ICT is upgrading its ministry's internet bandwidth from 1 GBPS to 10 GBPS to enhance NEMIS, which is supported by the Government Common Core Network (GCCN).
