President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday received JP flag-bearer in the Wajir West by-election at State House, Nairobi.

Ahmed Kolosh was accompanied to the State House by other Jubilee MPs, including National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale.

During the meeting, the leaders expressed confidence their party candidate will win.

They added that North Eastern region is a Jubilee territory and they will mobilise residents to rally behind Kolosh.

The by-election for Wajir West is slated for April 25, 2019.

The Supreme Court had nullified Kolosh’s win over errors during the past election. The court ordered IEBC to conduct a fresh poll. The move saw Kolosh shifting from ODM to Jubilee.

The candidates include Ali Noor Abdi (LPK), Ibrahim Mohamud (KANU), Mohamed Yussuf (ODM), Ahmed Kolosh (Jubilee) and Abbas Nunow (AGANO).

A showdown is expected between Jubilee and ODM after Deputy President William Ruto pledged to “stop at nothing” to clinch the Wajir West MP seat.
