Three people have been arrested with crude weapons with the intention of disrupting the ongoing Ugenya by elections.

The suspects are; Emmanuel Odhiambo, Hillary Ochieng, and Eric Onyangi who hail from Ugenya Sub county.

Ugenya OCPD Willy Simba said the suspects were found with a panga and stones in a car with registration number KCM 228C at Sega town.

"We intercepted the car and the occupants at around 3:00 am after getting a tip from the members of the public," Simba said.

Simba said that at first members of the public suspected that the three were dishing out money.

"...but no cash was found in the car apart from crude weapons," he added.

The three are expected to be arraigned at Ukwala law courts this morning.

The Ugenya OCPD further assured voters that his team is well prepared for any eventuality.

He warned those intending to disrupt the ongoing election that they will be dealt with accordingly.

The voting process has kicked off with few hiccups with some voters complaining of electronic voter identification device failure at Sega polling station.

IEBC urged Voters, candidates and agents to maintain order at the polling station.

"Avoid wearing or carrying campaign materials and to avoid campaigning while on the queue," the electoral body said.

This comes after six people were arrested and arraigned over electoral malpractices in Ugenya on Thursday.

A senior IEBC official said two were arrested for conducting campaigns past the stipulated period while the rest violated electoral processes, including violence and bribery.
