It's no accident. Grabbers, police will try to evict tenants

ODM party leader Raila Odinga has blamed landgrabbers for the fire that razed parts of Toi market on the outskirts of Kibra, Nairobi, on Tuesday.

The inferno started at 4 am, leading to huge losses.

“This is not the first time Toi is being razed. This was well planned," Raila said at the market.

"It is not accidental. I’m sure landgrabbers are behind this so they can come tomorrow with the help of police officers to evict owners. I want to assure you that we will not allow this to happen."

Calling for investigations, Raila said he would engage other leaders so the find a durable solution.

“I want to assure you the materials will be in place and reconstruction will start immediately so people can continue with their businesses.”
