[VIDEO] Eight pupils killed after school bus collides with lorry in Mwingi

Eight pupils of St Gabriel Academy, Mwingi died in a road accident at Kanginga bridge on Thika-Garissa highway, about a kilometre from Mwingi town.

Six pupils were critically injured after the bus reportedly collided with a lorry at about 11pm on Saturday.

The driver lost control of the bus which overturned and plunged into a ditch.

The bus in the crash belongs to Nguutani secondary school but had been hired to carry the pupils for a tour of Mombasa.

At least 44 passengers were on board at the time of the accident. Some six pupils had been dropped home just before the crash.

32 of them were taken to Mwingi Level 4 hospital. Reports from the facility showed that 26 of those rushed there were stable.
