Bidco Africa will next week lead a campaign to plant 5,000 Bamboo seedlings at Ndakaini Dam to help conserve the water tower and promote the use of Bamboo as a source of renewable energy.
In a tweet on his official Twitter account, group chairman Vimal Shah says the exercise was a continuation of the company’s initiative to plant 1 million Bamboo plants.
Dubbed “The Handshake Edition”, the event is scheduled to take place next Tuesday at 8am.
It will be officiated by Charles Sunkuli, the PS in charge of Environment and Forestry.
According to the post, the Theme for this year is “SAVE OUR WATER TOWERS”.
Last year, the company embarked on a campaign to plant 1, 000,000 Bamboo plants at Ndakaini Dam to help conserve the water tower.
The Bamboo planting was presided by the then Environment and Natural resources Cabinet Secretary Judy Wakhungu who stressed about the connection between the environment and the impact of climate change in Kenya.
Speaking at the first planting event at Ndakaini Dam Vimal said the company was committed to environmental conservation and entrenching sustainability into its daily business operations.
“Ndakaini is easily the most important location in Kenya. If water is life then this place is literally our life which is why this partnership with Nairobi Water makes so much sense. If we conserve Ndakaini we can change our lives; if we let it go-we let our lives go.” he said.
