Two dead after allegedly taking illicit brew in Kericho

Two people have died and another hospitalized at Kericho Level Four hospital after allegedly taking second-generation brew.

The victims are said to have bought the brew from a licensed Wines and spirits dealer

at Jericho market, Kericho West sub-county over the weekend.

Deputy county commissioner Jamleck Bumba said he could however not confirm if the two died as a result of the brew.

Speaking to the Star, Bumba said the samples of the brew had been taken to government chemist for analysis.

"Until we get back the report we cannot say or deny that those who died

as

a result of taking the brew," he said.

The victims, a woman and young man were found dead inside their houses.

Before members of the public said the two had been seen at the Wins and Spirit outlet while drunk.

Angry members of the public stormed the Jericho Wins and spirit and destroyed part of what was in the stork.

Later the police took away some 150 cartons of the alleged brew for verification.

Residents said the owner of the Wins and Spirit shop had started an illegal distillery at Kapsuser market some two Kilometers away from where he was allegedly brewing the illegal brews.
