Elgeyo orphan set for Starehe Boys' with Murkomen's sponsorship

Moses Kiptanui, the 14-year-old orphan who emerged top in KCPE in Elgeyo

Marakwet,

is set to join Starehe Boys' Centre.

He

scored 419 marks after the test that he wrote at

Mizpah Academy.

Kiptanui's father died while he was in nursery school and his mother in 2015.

He

landed secondary school sponsorship by Senator Kipchumba Murkomen

after

The Star highlighted

his plight on November

23.

His primary education was sponsored by Liz Academy director Charles Toroitich.

The boy said on Wednesday that he was excited to join Starehe as it was his first choice.

“I am so happy that I have been selected to join the school of my choice. I look forward to working hard so I can pursue engineering after completing form four,” he said.

More than 1,000,000 candidates sat this year's KCPE and are expected to join form one between January 9 and 12.
