Youths countrywide have been asked to abstain from alcohol and other addictive substances on election day eve to ensure they cast their votes.

The Vijana na UhuRuto caravan has also asked youths to re-elect President Uhuru Kenyatta in the August 8 polls

"We are travelling across the country pushing for the Uhuru's re-election because we believe he has the best agenda for our nation," Wambui Nyutu told residents in Murang'a on Saturday.

She also lauded women for showing more interest in elective seats unlike in previous general elections.

"Most young women do not vote or engage in political activities, but we are glad things are changing for the better this time round regarding the country's leadership," she added.

Zack Kinuthia, a former student leader, asked residents to break cultural barriers and elect people from diverse backgrounds.
