The family of murdered Kalenjin singer Diana Chemutai, popularly known as Chelele, has expressed fears her case might collapse.

This followed reports that their lawyer Kimutai Bosek was hijacked in Nairobi and lost crucial case documents.

The case did not take off on Monday after the lawyer, who was on his way to Naivasha law courts, was waylaid by unknown people.

Susan Chepkemoi, Chelele's sister, asked President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto to intervene.

Chepkemoi

told journalists at the court that they have spent a lot of resources attending court sessions yet the case has dragged.

"We are not pleased. Despite Safaricom providing evidence to help the case, the matter has not been resolved," she said.

"We suspect a plan to cover up the case is being executed behind the court scenes."

She noted the family has had difficulties raising

Diana's children with no government support.

"We need justice," she said.

Chelele died on January 17, 2016. Her body was dumped inside her deserted house in Bomet county.

Her husband Erick Musila, who is the main suspect, was arrested and the case which was lined up to be heard in Kericho was moved to Naivasha law court.

Musila, an Administration Police officer, pleaded not guilty to the charge of murdering his wife.
