Cornel Rasanga has

clinched the ODM primaries ticket for re-election as Siaya Governor.

Rasanga garnered 143,446 votes beating his rival Nicholas Gumbo who got 87,467.

But Gumbo refuted the results saying the

returning

officer who declared Rasanga the winner was a comedian.

"They can do whatever they want in their party. It is their party. I had a better life outside politics anyway," Gumbo said.

After the announcement

of the results, celebrations begun

immediately

in Siaya county with the residents expressing

happiness.

"We are very happy and we know the governor will continue with his development agenda's," one of the residents said.

Rasanga cast his ballot at Segere Primary in Alego Usonga.

Last month,

Businessman William Oduol said he prefers Rasanga for the Siaya Governor seat in the August 8 poll.

Oduol said he will work with Rasanga so that they retain the top county seat in Alego Usonga.

He was defeated by Rasanga in the March 2013 poll and in the October 2013 by-election staged by a petition against the first election.
