An MP from Kwale on Friday asked police to probe MP Khatib Mwashetani over threats to ODM leader Raila Odinga and Governor Hassan Joho.
Zuleikha Juma (Nominated) said the legislator broke the law by saying he will met violence on the two opposition leaders when they set foot in Lunga Lunga constituency.
Mwashetani on Thursday dared Raila and Joho to set foot in Lunga Lunga, saying they will never hold peaceful rallies in the region.
The legislator was allegedly harassed by ODM supporters during the burial of Kwale senator Boy Juma Boy at Vanga on Monday.
"If they can come with goons, I can also organise mine and I’m ready...that is the last rally they will do peacefully in Kwale," he said.
But Juma said asked the police to move fast and arrest Mwashetani to erase fears that they are playing favourites to Jubilee members.
"If the security organs don't play favorites with Jubilee members, then I ask them to follow the law and call Mwashetani for questioning," she said.
Juma said that such utterances, arrogance and high level of impunity has made the Jubilee Party unattractive to many Coast residents.
"We don’t want to be led by people who have disregard for the rule of law," she told journalists at the county.
"Who does Mwashetani think he is to threaten hundreds of thousands of ODM supporters in Kwale?" Juma asked.
Juma said that the MP has not achieved even a quarter of what governor Joho has done to the Coast people.
"Joho has put the Coast people on the national map after many years of being in the cold," she said.
The nominated MP said that apart from the police probe, Mwashetani should be compelled to apologise to the two leaders.
She said the lawmaker is yet to accomplish even a fraction of Raila's achievement to bolster democracy in Kenya.
At Boy's burial, Raila castigated Mwashetani and Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya for defecting to Jubilee.
He asked the two to show what development they have brought to the county after they ditched ODM for the ruling party.
"They (Jubilee) said they will bring laptops. It is now four years but we have not been seen any of those. Ask Mwashetani," Raila said.
"They said they will construct 10,000 kilometres of roads but they have not done that. Ask Mwashetani," he said as the crowd cheered him on.
"They said they will provide jobs to youths only to lose NYS and Eurobond money. Ask Mwashetani," added Raila.
