ODM leader Raila Odinga on Wednesday said Jubilee party is not popular at the Coast.

Raila who jetted into the Coast on Monday a day after Jubilee Party said the government should not chest thump that it has conquered the region.

“My question is how many Coasterians have they talked to,’’ Raila said when he addressed a rally at

Marereni in Kilifi county accompanied by governors Ali Hassan Joho (Mombasa) and Amason Kingi (Kilifi).

The ODM party leader was reacting to Deputy President William Ruto’s statement on Sunday that Jubilee party was conquering Coast.

He said issuing 600,000 deeds in the Coast region did not solve the lands problem affecting the residents.

Raila said Coast‘s major problem on land was not to get tittle deeds but historical injustices.

“Historical injustices began with the Arabs, British, Africans, those behind them are absentee landlords who live in Arabia, Europe and in Kenya,’’ he said.

He said the historical injustices would have been addressed if President Uhuru implemented the Truth Justice and reconciliation Commission (TJRC) report which was handed to him in May 2013.

“The Commission did research, that had recommendations to address the historical injustices, Uhuru was given in May 2013, he was to begin implementing it after six months,’’ he said.

“The report will remain in parliament until CORD takes over power; we came up with the report for Coast to get justice,’’ he said.

He said ODM was united all over the country and is the only party which has solutions to the problems facing Kenyans.

Raila said both Uhuru and Ruto were protecting corrupt individuals in government.

“When I said Waiguru was involved in the NYS scandal, Ruto said it was untrue, now he told her to carry her own cross,’’ he said.
