National Assembly majority leader Aden Duale on Tuesday withdrew a special motion seeking deployment of KDF soldiers to Juba, South Sudan, from the UN Security Council request.

He said he withdrew the motion until next week to allow “for further consultations”. Duale moved the motion last Thursday as a “matter of urgency” and the debate was to start yesterday afternoon.

The UN Security Council on August 13 authorised the deployment of a 4,000-strong protection force to Juba as part of the UN peacekeeping mission.
