Former Interior CS, Joseph ole Lenku, has claimed his successor Joseph ole Nkaissery is supporting Kajiado governor David ole Nkedianye (Cord) against the government's code of conduct.
Lenku has declared he will face Nkedianye in next year’s gubernatorial election on a Jubilee coalition ticket.
The former CS told the Star on phone he has all the proof that Nkaissery is fighting him and even cited a meeting that Nkaissery held with a number of Jubilee MCAs in his office before moving to a hotel to have “tea” in Nairobi city.
“It is in that meeting that Nkaissery actually planned on how the MCAs would call a press conference to demand that he (Nkeissery) should probe my security detail. What I am saying is an absolute truth, and nothing but the truth,” Lenku emphasized.
The Star spotted Lenku recently at a fundraiser for women in Sajiloni town in Kajiado county when he arrived with a convoy of more than 50 fuel-guzzling cars.
Lenku claimed the CS is supporting Nkedianye because they both (Nkaissery and Nkedianye) come from the Odomong’i clan while he is from the majority Orokiteng Maasai clan of Kajiado.
He further claimed Nkaissery is behind the statement attributed to Kajiado North MCAs who demanded that his security detail be probed.
When contacted on phone for comment, Nkaissery dismissed Lenku’s claims and asked his him to stop dragging his name into cheap propaganda.
Nkaissery told him to fight his own political wars and answer the MCAs who first raised the matter of his security detail.
The CS said he was not aware if Lenku retained state security after he left government as alleged.
“Lenku should come out and clear his name on the matter, and also, declare what state resources he has at his disposal because I do not know he enjoys such privileges,” Nkaissery said.
In his respond yesterday, Lenku said; “Vying for this seat in the Jubilee party has sparked off jitters among some persons in the county. Nkaissery is fighting me by all means. Seeing me as a potential candidate for the county chief, he is against it because he comes from Odomong’i and I hail from Orokiteng.”
Kajiado MCAs led by deputy speaker, George Sunkuyia, Onesmus Ngogoyo (Olkeri), Justus Ng’ossor (Ewuaso) and Mwathe Pere (Ongata Rongai) last month demanded Lenku’s security detail to be probed.
The four had claimed the former Interior CS is traversing the county campaigning for the governor seat with “huge security detail complete with chase cars and yet he is not a state official.”.
Lenku, however, dismissed those wanting him probed over his contingent of security personnel saying the constitution is clear that he will retain his guards until after three years on leaving government.
When we reached out to MCAs Pere and Ngogoyo to confirm or deny they held a meeting with Nkaissery prior to them issuing a statement condemning Lenku over is alleged “bloated” security, they dismissed the allegations as untrue and “ill” conceived.“This is ridiculous and uncalled for because for Lenku top purport we met Nkaissery in his office before going to a city hotel to have tea is completely a fabricated lie. We come from Kajiado North and Nkaissery hails from Kajiado Central, the last time I saw the minister was on TV when he was being sworn in as new Interior CS,” claimed Pere.
Pere claimed Lenku is a project of Kajiado South MP, Katoo ole Metito, who felt insecure with the presence of the former Interior CS in his backyard.
