The decomposing body of a woman said to be a commercial sex worker was found in her house in Naivasha, on Wednesday morning.
Neighbours and friends said they became concerned after not seeing the middle-aged woman for two weeks.
The stench from her house in Kayole estate prompted them to call police and the area chief on Wednesday morning, Joshua Muya, a witness said.
"The woman was last seen two weeks ago and her house had been closed all along. Neighbors were attracted to the smell where the body was found lying on the bed,” Muya said.
Police with the help of the caretaker broke into the house and took the body to Naivasha subcounty Referral Hospital mortuary.
"The body is in very bad condition making it hard to determine if there was foul play in the death. Only a postmortem will determine this," a police source said.
