The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC)  in Bumula is set for completion after a 6-year wait, area MP Jack Wamboka has announced.

Speaking at the college on Saturday, during the site handing over and groundbreaking, MP Wamboka affirmed that by September this year, the college would have been completed and will be ready to admit its first cohort.

Wamboka told the Star that he has involved the Bungoma KMTC and officials from the head office to help guide the project.

“I have partnered with the Bungoma KMTC and the officials from the Nairobi office to decide on the courses to start with at the new campus come September this year,” Wamboka said.

To ensure that the medical college offers better services, the MP said that he would work with the county's Health Department to equip Bumula subcounty Hospital which will go a long way in serving students with practical lessons.

The lawmaker also noted that he is sourcing resources that would help construct hotels for the students who will join the facility, affirming that when completed and in use it will boost the constituency’s economy.

Bungoma KMTC Principal Victoria Koi, in her address, pledged to support the growth of the upcoming medical college.

“While we are waiting for Bumula KMTC to be completed I appeal to those who did their KCSE recently and are still at home to visit the Kuccps portal and apply for courses, we have 18 courses that can fit all of you,” she said.

Wamboka said that he has allocated Sh50 million for the completion of the KMTC starting with the construction of an ultra-modern administration complex.

The DAK-P MP urged President William Ruto to stop overburdening Kenyans with the introduction of heavy taxes.

He further urged the head of state to withdraw the gazette notice that indicated that Nzoia Sugar Factory in Bungoma is scheduled for privatisation.

“This is our heritage and our soils, as long as  I’m alive I won’t allow them to sell Nzoia Sugar, even if all MPs abandon me I will fight to the end,” Wamboka said.
