Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) leaders have told the Kenya Kwanza administration to stop blaming the Uhuru Kenyatta regime for the high cost of living in Kenya.

Speaking at DAP-K Western Kenya offices on Saturday during massive recruitment, deputy party leader Wafula Wamunyinyi claimed that the Kenya Kwanza government has failed on its mandate to work for the Kenyans as promised.

In addition, the former Kanduyi MP asked President William Ruto to reconstruct the economy without directing blame to his predecessor.

“These people complaining about the high cost of living were part of Uhuru Kenyatta's government. I don’t know why they are shouting aloud about the deteriorating economy,” he said.

The former MP further claimed that all the projects that President Ruto launched during his tour in Bungoma were initiated by Uhuru.

“The plan of elevating Sang’alo Institute to a National status was there during President Uhuru Kenyatta, Kenya Kwanza government should stop pretending that they are the ones who came up with that idea,” Wamunyinyi said.

“They should stop changing the name of Sang’alo Institute because that Institute has been called by that name since independence."

Wamunyinyi also faulted President William Ruto for promising to unveil a new mill at the Nzoia Sugar Factory.

“I and former Defence CS Eugene Wamalwa really fought for Nzoia Sugar and even brought money to support farmers,” he said, noting that he sponsored a Sugar Bill that would cushion cane farmers.

During the same event auctioneer Zacharia Barasa ditched President Ruto’s UDA party for DAP-K.

Barasa who unsuccessfully sought the United Democratic Alliance candidature nominations for Bungoma County in the 2022 general elections affirmed his support for the growth of the DAP- K.

Barasa was received by DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa.

Wamalwa revealed that they have begun massive recruitment in the counties calling the members to join and grow the party.

“DAP-K is a small party, just one-year-old but we have grown, it is now the fifth largest party in Kenya,” Wamalwa said.

Also present were Luanda MP Dickson Maungu, Bumula MP Jack Wamboka and Bungoma county assembly minority leader Antony Lusenaka among others.
