Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa will from next week work from the Regional Governor's Office at Panpaper in Lugari constituency.

This follows a planned renovation of several offices at the County headquarters including the Office of the Governor, located in Kakamega town.

"The Governor will occupy the refurbished office at the County headquarters once the renovation works are completed and evaluated by County Engineers," County Secretary Lawrence Omuhaka said in a statement.

Barasa will now fully take up his duties at the Lugari office, increasing access to services for the residents of the Northern part of Kakamega.

Constituencies that form the Northern part of Kakamega are Lugari, Likuyani and Malava.

"The administrative decision by the Governor makes the Northern Office officially functional following his directive during Mashujaa day celebrations held at Lumakanda grounds in Lugari constituency to have the satellite office operationalised," he said.

However, Omuhaka clarified that all public services offered by the county government will not be interrupted by office renovations and relocation activities.

The current facility serving as the county headquarters belonged to the Kakamega Municipal Council.

Earlier this year, residents endorsed the county government's new multi-million shilling county headquarters on the outskirts of Kakamega town.

Governor Barasa's administration plans to relocate the county's main offices from the central business district to Mudiri estate, which is about four kilometres away.
