Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has told off Bumula MP Jack Wamboka to stop making noise on who should get the county secretary’s position after declaring it vacant.

Speaking in Bungoma on Friday, Lusaka revealed that nobody from Bumula constituency submitted an application yet the area MP was captured demanding the position should go back to Bumula.

Former county secretary Wakoli Wambati hails from Bumula.

People from other constituencies are also lobbying for the position. Those who applied have already faced scrutiny and been shortlisted for the final vetting by the County Public Service Board.

Agriculture CEC Monicah Fedha has been acting. Fedha took over after Lusaka interdicted Wambati and his deputy Isaac Mukenya.

The two officers who served in the former Governor Wycliffe Wangamati's regime were kicked out together with six officers other for gross misconduct, abuse of office and corruption allegations.

To address the allegations, Lusaka said that he went ahead and formed a task force that would dig deeper into the matter.

The officers who were interdicted included county secretary, deputy county secretary, county attorney and five chief officers.

Bumula MP Wamboka had asked Governor Lusaka to appoint someone from his constituency to take over the secretary position.

But Governor Lusaka asked Wamboka to stop threatening him and instead focus on his job.

“My agriculture CEC Monicah Fedha has been in acting capacity as the county secretary but we have shortlisted candidates, there is a board to vet and get a competitive person to fill the gap,” Lusaka said.

He added, “The county service board will interview and produce a competent person to run the county,”

Lusaka also revealed that soon the county government will announce ten chief officers to replace those who left service and asked those who qualify to submit their applications.

Wamboka had also threatened to stop the governor from hiring 20 doctors alleging corruption and not considering regional balance.

“In every office, there are always plans on how government officers run the office affairs. Stop telling me what I should do,” Lusaka told Wamboka.

“I call upon the County Public Service Board to expedite the process so that we get the chief officers to have a full government,” he said.
