NCBA has opened a new branch at Kenya's second largest open-air market, Chwele which is in Bungoma Central.
The branch, which was formally opened on Tuesday is aimed at bringing banking services closer to the residents, who had operated without banks until 2022.
It began operations on February 28, 2023, where it has benefited more than 270 customers, with the help of eight staff members.
It is the 85th in the NCBA Bank Kenya branch network and the second branch in Bungoma County.
Bungoma is now among 10 counties that have more than one NCBA branch.
The branch was inaugurated by Governor Kenneth Lusaka in an event which was attended by NCBA Group Executive Director David Abwoga.
Speaking during the opening, Abwoga assured customers of "world-class financial solutions".
"We are committed to providing world-class financial solutions to our customers through our vast range of products and services, which are tailored to meet local needs while being inspired by global innovation," he said.
"The opening of our new branch in Chwele is an important step towards providing financial services to a population that has historically lacked this service for a long time."
It will provide financial products and solutions including savings and current accounts, loans, investment solutions for wholesalers and asset finance solutions for retailers.
There will also be mobile and Internet banking services which will enable customers to access their accounts from anywhere at any time.
"By offering a range of banking products and services, we hope to facilitate the growth of the town and contribute to the economic development of Chwele town and the larger Bungoma County," Abwoga added.

On his part, Lusaka said the opening of a second NCBA branch in Bungoma will fast-track financial freedom for business people, schools and residents at large.
"Today, I would like to encourage all residents of Chwele to take advantage of the financial services that are now accessible through the opening of this NCBA branch in order to build the economy of our county," he said.
