Busia Governor Paul Otuoma has promised to work with development partners to address critical issues affecting the health sector in the county.

The governor addressed residents from the seven subcounties and development partners during a consultative forum at Busia ATC on Friday.

He said his government will encourage medics to offer efficient services in public hospitals to offer residents world-class care within the county.

" It's a pity that the dialysis machine at the Busia county referral hospital is dysfunctional, forcing patients to seek similar services in Kisumu," he said.

"The Intensive Care Unit is also dysfunctional because of a panel which was taken away and has not been replaced yet it costs Sh500,000."

On Ebola which continues to claim lives in neighbouring Uganda, Otuoma urged residents to be vigilant and inform authorities when they come across a person with signs of the killer virus.

Otuoma also said his administration will have one flagship project in every subcounty to transform the lives of residents while decrying the poor state of the county infrastructure.

"The Busia Economic Forum and the task force I appointed to oversee operations until I form the government will help solve these teething challenges with the help of development partners," he said.

"Our county is yet to have a fully-fledged headquarter, while Busia town is losing revenue due to lack of vehicle parking slots."
