Azimio la Umoja One Kenya presidential candidate Raila Odinga was fairly beaten during the August 9 election, Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetang’ula has said.

Speaking during a funeral service in Musikoma on Friday, Wetang’ula lauded IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati for bringing sanity and order in the country’s electoral process.

He asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to hand over power to the President-elect William Ruto.

Wetang’ula, a principal in the Kenya Kwanza Alliance, confirmed that he is set to replace the outgoing Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi as per his pre- election agreement with President-elect Ruto.

“I am going to be the Speaker of the National Assembly, the third in command of the country. I will use the position to appoint our people into big positions,” Wetang’ula said.

In the election pact, the head of state was to come from Rift Valley, the deputy president from Mt Kenya region whereas the National Assembly speaker was to come from the Western region.

In addition, Western region was also to have 30 per cent of the total national government appointment if Ruto won the Presidential election.

Wetang’ula accused some of the Azimio leaders of fuelling propaganda that Ford Kenya and ANC won’t deliver 70 per cent votes to the Kenya Kwanza arguing that they have proved them wrong.

“Some people have been using their time to accuse us and circulate propaganda that I and my brother Musalia Mudavadi made a wrong choice,” he said, adding that Kenya Kwanza believes in prayers.

Wetang’ula lashed at former Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wangamati, former Tongaren MP  Eseli Simiyu and DAP-K party leader Wafula Wamunyinyi for staging a coup to oust him as the party boss.

“I want to thank the church, especially the Catholic church, for praying for us and supporting me to continue serving in the position of the party leader,” he said.

Wetang’ula asked Raila to concede defeat and allow Ruto be sworn as the fifth President of Kenya.

“As Kenya Kwanza we have plans of taking care and respect the outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta the way it has been done to other former head of states,” he said.
