Deputy President William Ruto can’t be a messiah to save this nation from the current economic crisis since he is part of the mess, Vihiga senator George Khaniri has said.

Khaniri who is eyeing the governor seat in the forthcoming general election said he is under Azimio la Umoja coalition in the UDP party.

“That side (Kenya Kwanza)  are the one who brought these problems we are facing currently as a nation and they are telling us now they will resolve them,” he said.

Khaniri was speaking at Idereri Church in South Maragoli where he had taken his campaigns for governor.

The lawmaker said they are well informed that the leaders are the ones who landed the nation into a financial crisis and have no capacity to restore it.

“As a leader I have made up my mind that I won't join Kenya Kwanza. I will support Raila Odinga who has stood for democracy of this country and other reforms,” Khaniri said.

He said Raila has been tortured for the freedom the country is currently enjoying.

Khaniri said they joined Azimio via the UDP party to support Raila so as to strengthen the luhya community in the next government.

The lawmaker said he will fulfil all his promises if elected Vihiga governor unlike his predecessors who failed residents in terms of service delivery.

"Elect me as your governor and you will see the change I will bring as your leader," Khaniri said.

"I will ensure residents have quality services across the board," he added.

Khaniri's sentiments came a few days after former Governor Moses Akaranga had termed Sabatia MP Alfred Agoi and Khaniri as the worst leaders to man the county.

"Khaniri has been telling us that he has been bringing money here in the county and he can't see what the money has done, whose fault is that?" Akaranga said in the past event.

Akaranga said Khaniri wasn’t making any follow ups to see what the county was doing, and if he becomes the governor after allocating the resources to various departments within the county, he won’t make follow ups on what is happening in those departments.
