Mt. Elgon MP Fred Kapondi has dismissed his competitors in the parliamentary race saying he will trounce them in the UDA party nominations and the August polls.

Speaking at Mulatiwa village in Chesikaki ward in Mt. Elgon, Kapondi also trashed claims that he has ditched the UDA party.

"I have heard a section of my opponents claiming that they have dwarfed my Parliamentary seat aspirations. I want to boldly say that I am in the race on UDA party ticket and firmly behind my next President William Ruto," Kapondi said.

He added that many aspirants who had declared interest to vie on UDA tickets withdrew their bid citing his clear track record as a threat to them.

"Last year I saw many people declaring their interest in the seat but so far I only have two opponents in UDA who cannot even defeat me. I am very optimistic of winning the April nominations as well as the August 9, polls," he assured.

In his appeal, Kapondi asked his opponents to tell sell their manifestos and stop criticizing his job.

"Everybody should come to the ground and show Mt. Elgon residents what he/she has done. We don't want much criticism," he added.

He defended his record saying he has built tarmac roads in Mt. Elgon assuring residents that he will continue developing Mt. Elgon if given another chance to serve.

"When I was building the tarmac road in this region, I faced criticism from my opponents but by the grace of God I was able to complete it," he said.

Kapondi asked Mt. Elgon residents to back Ruto's bid for the top seat in the August polls saying it's only Kenya Kwanza that has an agenda that can change the lives of Kenyans.
