Embattled High Court Judge Said Chitembwe has been awarded a PhD degree in peace and conflict relations from Masinde Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology.

Chitembwe was among two others who were awarded Doctor of Philosophy in Peace and Conflict studies during the university’s 17 graduation held on Friday.

The other two are John Kisilu and Gacaga Mungai.

Chitembwe is battling graft allegations levelled against him by former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, who released a series of videos claiming the judge was involved in inappropriate transactions.

The four part video, which went viral, has since been labelled 'the Sonko leaks'.

Chitembwe is expected to face a committee that was formed by Cheif Justice Martha Koome to look into his conduct.

He has denied any wrongdoing.

Chitembwe failed to stop proceedings after the courts declined to give orders to stop the inquiry.

Elsewhere, Masinde Muliro University has conferred an honorary Doctorate degree on industrialist Dr Manu Chandaria and Equity Group Cheif Executive Officer Dr James Mwangi.

Mwangi was conferred an honorary Doctor of science in financial innovation while industrialist Chandaria was conferred Doctor of Human Letters in Business Technology.

Over 4, 000 students graduated with certificates, Diplomas, Bachelor’s and Masters degrees.
