Ford-Kenya officials in Bungoma county have castigated Kabuchai MP Majimbo Kalasinga for supporting Deputy President William Ruto.

Led by party branch secretary Cephers Wachana and Chwele MCA Barasa Mukhongo, the officials are now demanding that Kalasinga leaves the party so he can seek a fresh mandate on a United Democratic Alliance party ticket.

UDA is a political party affiliated to Ruto. It fielded a candidate against Kaloasinga during the March 4 by-election that the Ford Kenya MP won.

The officials said Ford Kenya was firmly in the One Kenya Alliance and wondered why the MP had gone against the party lines.

The duo said Ford-Kenya has never supported Ruto's hustler movement.

"You can't support our opponent and still be in the party," Wachana said.

Mukhongo, who is also the Kabuchai Ford-Kenya sub-branch chairman, regretted that the MP had already forgotten how the party assisted him during the parliamentary by-election.

The by-election was occasioned by the death of James Mukwe.

"He has been losing all these times because he belonged to different parties, but when he joined Ford-Kenya he won easily. He should ask himself why," Mukhongo said.

On Friday, Kalasinga surprised many when he attended Ruto's meet-the-people tour at Chwele market and declared support for the DP's presidential bid.

"When you see me here this evening, know that I support Ruto," Kalasinga said.

Wachana said the MP had shown that he has no political stand.

They said Kalasinga had not only betrayed the party but also those who voted for him.
