A Catholic priest in Busia county has said he is backing the constitutional review process to create more positions in government.

Amukura Catholic priest Fr Dunstan Epalaat said every Kenyan has a right to seek the country’s leadership instead of it rotating between two tribes.

Speaking during a funds drive at Kwangamor Catholic Church, Fr Epalaat said the Constitution needs to be amended to create a level playing field.

“If the review of the Constitution will create positions to go beyond two tribes, I think and believe that is the way to go,” Epalaat said.

He added that an expanded Cabinet will accommodate more communities and create balanced leadership.

The event was attended by Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya and his Busia counterpart Sospeter Ojaamong

The priest also criticised leaders hatred among communities, saying freedom of speech does not extend "to creating  problems for the country ahead of the 2022 polls".

Epalaat also challenged those whom Governor Ojaamong has given opportunities to serve in his administration to discharge their duties diligently.
