ODM has condemned the chaotic scenes witnessed on Wednesday in Migori county assembly.

MCAs allied to Governor Okoth Obado stormed the morning sitting and ejected North Kanyamkago MCA George Omamba from the speaker’s seat. This happened ahead of the planned tabling of an impeachment motion against Obado.

During the chaos, nominated MCA Mary Ogodo was assaulted and her left arm broken.

Commenting on the incident, ODM secretary general Edwin Sifuna urged Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai to ensure the leaders who attacked the MCA are arrested.

Sifuna said the actions by the assembly ridiculed ODM and women.

"These are some of the incidents that make women shy away from politics, even as we talk about the two-thirds gender rule," he said.

Sifuna spoke in Kanduyi, Bungoma county, during a meeting with ODM members from the county.

He further said ODM stands for truth and will never defend leaders accused of being corrupt.

"As a party, we are always being asked by the electorate about developments in our ODM counties and we have received numerous complaints from Migori about Governor Obado," he said.

He said it wasn't an easy decision when ODM decided that Obado must go for Migori residents to get proper development.

He said all ODM officials and MCAs in Migori provided sufficient evidence for the party to agree Obado should go home.
