Covid-19 Fund board donates Sh237m PPE to Busia

County has registered over 500 positive cases of Covid-19, none has died

The Covid-19 Fund board has donated disposable gowns, surgical masks, N-95 masks, gloves, head and shoe covers and gumboots worth Sh237 million to Busia county.

The personal protective equipment will be used by healthcare workers handling coronavirus patients in the county.

Deputy Governor Moses Mulomi received the donation from Equity Bank chief commercial officer Polycarp Igathe. 

 

Mulomi said at the Busia County Referral Hospital that the PPE will bolster efforts by the administration to combat Covid-19.

He said they will take necessary measures to ensure the equipment is used to protect the front-line healthcare workers against the pandemic.

Mulomi said Busia county had registered over 500 positive cases of Covid-19, but none had died because of the hard work by the healthcare workers.

Igathe said the PPE donated is part of a consignment that will be distributed to all the 68 public hospitals across the county.

He thanked both the national and the county governments for their commitment towards the fight against the coronavirus

"We are appealing to all Kenyans to strictly adhere to the coronavirus regulations to prevent the spread of the disease. We will work together to face this pestilence and we shall win," he added.

Chief officers for Health Dr Isaac Omeri and Jonathan Okwakau, Medical services directors Janerose Ambuchi and Dr David Mukab and Busia Equity Bank branch manager Oscar Masinde were present.
