If you are counting on our weakness and division, we are going to disappoint you because the Mulembe community is more united than ever before, Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa has said.

The CS spoke during the Building Bridges Initiative meeting at Bukhungu Stadium on Saturday.

He said the change of stance by ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford-K counterpart Moses Wetang’ula to attend the Saturday meeting was white smoke from the Luhya community, indicating the community will stick together.

“Prophets of doom had foresaid that Western was divided, it can’t be united and that we can’t organise ourselves. Today with my brothers Musalia and Wetang’ula’ s presence, we have proven them wrong and I’m so proud that the Western family is solidly together right here in Bukhungu,” Wamalwa said.

The CS added that they will surprise many through their unity.

“For those who are preaching divisions and seeking to break us apart, today we want to say the die is cast and Western is united,”  Wamalwa said.

On BBI, the CS said Kenya needs to also build bridges across its borders "so that as we talk about the East African Federation and the integration of East Africa and the frontier counties will be the greatest beneficiaries".

“We want to look at the turnaround strategy of the economic revolution to see how we can improve cross border trade.
