Bungoma nominee 'absconds' vetting

Committee says he is deemed to have declined the appointment

A nominee to head public investments and resource mobilisation slot for the Bungoma county government failed to appear for vetting yesterday.

Wycliffe Koyabe was to appear before the county assembly committee on land physical planning housing, trade energy, and industrialisation.

Koyabe, who had been nominated by Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati faces court cases of fraud.

He was scheduled to appear before the committee by 8.30 but by 10.30 am he had not shown up at the KIE GHall In Bungoma Town.

The committee chair Humphrey Sifuna was forced to adjourn the sitting, saying the nominee will be deemed to have absconded required.

“The nominee did not even pick forms that are required to be filled and resubmitted to the committee we deem his missing a sign that he declined the appointment,” he said.

He added that the nominee had failed to adhere to the County Government Act on appointments

A nominee for the position of deputy county secretary, Isaac Mukenya. was also vetted by the committee by public administration.

 Koyabe did not answer calls seeking comment.
