Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula and the Senate speaker Kenneth Lusaka now want President Uhuru Kenyatta to intervene in the feud between ODM leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto.

Speaking at Machakha village in Sirisia during the funeral of Doris Nabalayo, the duo expressed concern that the war of words public spat between the two was going out of hand and is dangerous for the country’s cohesion.

“It is not good for leaders to tear each other apart like hyenas. What the two of you are telling Kenyans and more so children is that political bad manners is the way of life. It isn’t. Let’s have decorum," Wetang’ula said.

Lusaka said the spat between the two was raising political temperature.

“There is no need for all this. Leaders should all work together for the betterment of the country and especially to achieve the Big Four agenda,” Lusaka said.

Lusaka said the war on corruption should be sober, if anything is to be achieved.

The senator called on President Kenyatta to step in and arbitrate, adding that their continued public spat was washing away the gains made by the handshake.

“It’s not right for the President to preach peace, say we shook hands with Raila, we unifying the country yet Raila and Ruto are bitterly exchanging words,” Wetang'ula said.

He noted that it was wrong for the President to pretend to be preaching peace, while the two leaders were tearing each other apart.

“You cannot pretend to be eating cheese with Odinga yet your deputy and the opposition leader are fighting,” Wetang’ula said.

“Lets not politicise the war on graft because that way, we terribly lose it as acountry,” Lusaka said.

Sirisia MP John Waluke, however, criticised ODM leader Odinga for using the handshake for selfish interests and dividing Jubilee by fighting Ruto.

“The problem we are seeing in this country now is because one person wants to use the handshake for selfish gains,” he said.
