A Bungoma woman MP aspirant says she fears fears for her life because unknown people
keep trailing her.
Maria Nato (pictured), a JP member, recorded a statement at the Bungoma police station.
“Some people are after my life. For a week, they’ve been using a dark vehicle with tinted windows to follow my car. I don’t know their motive,” she said.
Nato said she will not step down for incumbent Reginalda Wanyonyi, despite pressure from Jubilee leaders that she shelve her ambition until 2022. The two and Anna Nandako are to face off in JP nominations tomorrow.
“My competitors are now employing propaganda to try and malign my me, saying I have stepped down for them. I’m still in the race. Let’s square off. No amount of intimidation will make me step down,” she said. But Wanyonyi dismissed the claim as signs of failure.
