Luhya elders, led by Bukusu council chairman Richard Walukano, say the government has issued too many logging licences.

“The national government should be told that the natural resources being destroyed are community property and using corrupt means to destroy the forests might destroy all the rivers that depend on them,” he said.

He warned that Lake Victoria may soon dry UP as its source is Mt Elgon forest. The elders addressed the press in Bungoma.
