Two Western governors have pledged to support President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election because of his development record.

Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka and Vihiga’s Moses Akaranga said on Saturday they will mobilise residents to vote for Jubilee. The two spoke at Kenya Revenue Authority director Evans Kakai’s home in Nalondo, Bungoma.

Akaranga said the region was tired of being in the opposition and knows the right direction this time round.

“We will work with the government so our region may develop. We need to relate well with Uhuru,” he said. “We must be respectful to the authorities.”

Akaranga urged opposition leaders and politicians to join Jubilee to be part of the next government.

“You cannot abuse someone, who has the keys to the maize store, and expect to be fed, no way,’’ he said. ‘’We know in September, Uhuru will visit Kibabii University during its first graduation ceremony. He will also revive the Pan Paper Mills and commission other development projects. That’s what our people want, nothing less.”

Lusaka said because of the Jubilee administration, work has started at the Chwele-Lwakhaka road and the Musikoma–Buyofu road.

“I might be short, but I can see far. That’s why I want our people to benefit by working with the government,” he said

The governor said a good player must score. “It’s the same in politics. I might be donning the wrong jersey, but I score several goals that make my people happy,” he said.

Lusaka said leaders can only score by “bringing development”. He urged residents to support Jubilee and re-elect it next year.

The duo also pledged to support Water CS Eugene Wamalwa’s bid for Nairobi governor. Those present included political analyst Tony Gachoka, ADC chairman Bifwoli Wakoli and Bungoma woman representative aspirant Catherine Wambilianga.
