Lugari legislator Ayub Savula has urged Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa to decide whether he wants to be a politician or remain in government.

He said Wamalwa should stop “cheating” President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto by saying the Luhyas support them.

“Wamalwa should leave elected Luhya leaders to put their house in order and field one among them to vie for President, instead of belittling them,” Savula told the Star on the phone yesterday.

“Uhuru rescued Wamalwa when he was broke by giving him a job. He should use his position to ensure Western gets the development it has been denied in three years.”

Savula said next year’s election outcome in Western will disprove those who believe “the region is up for political auction” by a few brokers.

“As much as I respect Uhuru and Ruto, I fear that Wamalwa is not telling them the truth about the Western voting bloc come 2017. What he is doing is pleasing Jubilee so he can retain his job.” Wamalwa has declared himself the community’s point man in the Jubilee government.

The CS has been traversing the region with Jubilee supporters.

Speaking in Mumias town last Friday, he said he does not need permission from Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula and Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale to visit Western.
