Outgoing Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital CEO Dr Wilson Aruasa has been feted by residents of Eldoret for his "outstanding service" at the facility.

Professionals and friends who are members of the Wareng Power House group hosted a party to thank and recognise Dr Aruasa for his long service at the hospital.

They were led by Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii and Uasin Gishu branch chamber of commerce and industry chairman Willy Kenei.

Dr Aruasa's eight-year tenure as CEO of the hospital has ended. Dr Peter Kirwa had been appointed as the facility acting CEO.

"Dr Aruasa has been a great servant of our people and we will always be grateful for his personal effort and teamwork in transforming the hospital," Governor Bii said.

He described Dr Aruasa as a dedicated and committed public servant who should be emulated by other workers.

Dr Aruasa said he was proud for the support he received from residents and leaders during his tenure.

He said the support enabled his team to transform the hospital to an institution that offers high-class services.

"Now we are able to perform surgeries that could not be conducted in this country some years ago," Dr Aruasa said.

He said the hospital had successfully discharged its mandate including training more than 200 staff annually.

"We have also worked well with counties in our region and our focus mainly has been quality services and care for our patients," Dr Aruasa said.

Wareng Power House group member and administrator Joseph Terer said they hosted the party to recognise Dr Aruasa's rich legacy as he exits from the hospital.

Residents said Dr Aruasa has touched many lives during his tenure at the hospital.

Aruasa said he was passionate about the success of President William Ruto’s plan to fully implement the Universal Health Care (UHC) for easy access to affordable and quality medical services.

“We all have to support the President so that the plan works for the benefit of all Kenyans,” he said.
