Trans Nzoia Sports executive Kittony to upgrade stadium

Trans Nzoia Sports executive Channella Kittony has said she will upgrade the historical Kenyatta Stadium to international standards to uplift sporting activities.

Speaking in Cherang’any after taking the oath of office, Kittony said all systems were already to have the Stadium get a facelift.

“I want to thank the governor for the honour to serve. I will serve with uttermost and profound humility,” she said.

Kittony, 28, said that apart from upgrading the Kenyatta Stadium, other sports facilities will also get a facelift.

She pledged to establish a revolving fund that will help youths in the cosmopolitan county venture into cultural enterprises.

“We will endeavour to make sure that talents are nurtured. We will also make sure that the revolving fund is put into use,” the CEC said.

She pledged to work with relevant stakeholders to ensure that promising talents are nurtured and shaped to realise their full potential.

The county government set aside more than Sh80 million for the renovation of the stadium in 2013.

Deputy Governor Philomena Kapkori thanked Governor George Natembeya for nominating the highest number of women in his administration.

“The nomination of the five women to Cabinet marks a great milestone towards the empowerment of the girl child. other countries should benchmark from Trans Nzoia,” she said.

Kapkory asked those picked to join the cabinet to dedicate themselves to serving residents with humility.

Natembeya nominated executives Janerose Mutama (lands, housing and physical planning), Phanice Khatundi (agriculture), Julie Kichwen (education), Channele Kittony (gender, youths and sports) and Truphena Awuor (county secretary).

The governor also picked  Bonface Wanyonyi Cosma (finance and economic planning), former county commissioner Sam Ojwang (public service management), Patrick Gacheru (water and environment), Pepela Wanjala (health and sanitation), Stanley Kirui (trade and tourism) and Jackson Amboka (public works, transport and energy).
