Deputy President William Ruto has urged Turkana residents to support his presidential bid for better development projects.

DP Ruto spoke during his visit to Lodwar at Moi Gardens.

He is expected to complete his two-day visit today by attending the Turkana Tourism and Cultural Festival.

DP Ruto said the biggest development they have delivered for the people of Turkana is the A1 road that starts from Kitale, Kainuk, Lokichar, Lodwar, Kakuma, Lokichoggio and Nadapal.

“The largest investment ever made in Turkana, delivered by the government when I’m the Deputy President is the A1 road. The Lodwar County referral and Lopiding hospitals we put the equipment worth sh5000 to improve health services,” DP Ruto said.

He noted that in 2013, Turkana had no technical college but the government has so far constructed four technical colleges.

He personally opened the Technical College in Turkana North and Turkana East.

“Here in Lodwar, 2013 people who were connected to electricity were only 2000, but today about 20,000 are connected to electricity. The good news is that the work of connecting electricity to people won’t stop until all people are connected to electricity,”

NANOK INCLUSION

“I want to thank you all for giving me chance to walk with Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok for my presidential bid. He’s the strongest person I know. I remember we came here in 2017 with President Uhuru Kenyatta for campaigns but Nanok stood alone and managed to be re-elected,” he said.

He confirmed that Governor Nanok is his Director for Presidential Campaigns a clear indication that he will consider the people of Turkana if elected as the president in 2022.

DP Ruto drummed up support for his bottom-up approach saying that his government will set aside sh100billion for housing, agro-processing, value addition, and manufacturing to create job opportunities for youths as a matter of priority.

He was accompanied by MPs Aden Duale (Garissa Township), Kimani Ichungwa (Kikuyu) and Governor Jackson Mandago (Uasin Gishu)

Governor Nanok deplored that despite the fact they supported ODM leader Raila Odinga for his presidential bid, he didn’t consider them back for a national cake of handshake. He only resorted for his people.

“The politics is about profit, if we didn’t benefit from Raila, we want to benefit from DP Ruto's government, and that is possible. I’m already in that office as Director for presidential campaigns,” he said.

He said they are ready for the 2022 election and whoever will lose should concede.
