Police in Kitengela on Wednesday recovered a 35-year-old woman's body hidden under her bed in the Noonkopir area in what they suspect as a murder case.

Isinya police commander, Charles Chepkonga, while speaking at the scene, told the Star his officers were alerted by the neighbours of the dead woman, that a foul smell was coming from her house.

“Following the tip, we came here after alerting our colleagues from the scenes of crime and we recovered the body which had begun to rot from under her bed,” Chepkonga said.

He said preliminary police investigations reveal her lover, who is on the run, killed her last Friday.

“This is a murder suspect and her husband who is on the run is the first suspect in this case,” he added.

The deceased's neighbours, among them Clement Njung’e, said the couple drink beer together and have been quarrelling every time they arrive home at night.

Njung’e said the last time they heard the couple quarrelling was on Friday and that they have been wondering where they went to thereafter.

The police moved the body of the deceased woman to Kitengela Sub-county hospital mortuary.
