Eight counties getting 300 water tanks to fight virus

Central Rift Valley water agency distributing tanks to promote hand washing

The Central Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency is distributing tanks to fight the coronavirus.

The distribution launched by Narok Governor Samuel Tunai and agency CEO Eng Hosea Wendot in Narok aims to supply 1,500l plastic tanks in towns and shopping centres at strategic points when the project is complete.

More than 300 tanks will be distributed in Nakuru, Narok, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Baringo, Elgeyo Marakwet, West Pokot and Turkana counties at the close ofPhase I.

 

The government directed state agencies to support the fight against the spread of the coronavirus as part of Corporate Social Responsibility.

"We encourage people to observe social distancing and hygiene to help slow down the spread of this virus. We will not lose sight of delivering clean and reliable water to the population,’’ the CEO said.

The tanks will be supplied with water and soap will be provided by local water companies. They will be outside supermarkets and other places frequently visited.

Narok Governor Samuel Tuna said the tanks will be redistributed to all six subounties.

The agency has stationed a team to ensure clean water, soap and sanitiser are displayed at its main gate, reception area, corridors and offices.
