Narok eyes irrigation with Sh300m capital

Narok county government is investing Sh300 million in building of dams and boreholes to end water scarcity.

In partnership with Quipbank, the county will hire machinery to contruct dams and water pans inorder to end water shortage in Loita area.

Quipbank is an equipment bank which offers vehicles and equipment rental and sales options.

Quipbank’s commercial manager John Mogire said they are targeting to construct 300 dams and over 200 boreholes at the end of 2019 to address the perennial water crisis as well as to boost the local economy through irrigation.

“The project has already kicked off and we have five earth-movers in different sites undertaking the dam projects,” Mogire said.
