The newly-elected Anglican Church of Kenya Archbishop has urged the President and the Cord leader to embrace dialogue to address the issues raised by the opposition.

Jackson Sapit said the problems this country faces cannot be solved through demonstrations or threats. Leaders must leave their hardline stance and sit down to discuss problems. “No politician can emerge a hero when they start chest-thumping on issues of national importance,” he said. Sapit spoke during Madaraka Day celebrations at the Maasai Mara University Stadium, Narok, on Wednesday.

Governor Samuel Tunai, Deputy Governor Evelyn Aruasa, county commissioner Moffat Kangi, woman representative Soipan Kudate and speaker Nick Kamwaro were present. The cleric said church leaders will ensure the two teams are brought together for the sake of peace.

“As the church we will root for dialogue among other leaders and let’s be open and sincere to each other on the issues affecting us,” he remarked. He urged Kenyans to elect credible leaders who are development-conscious and not base their vote on ethnic background. Tunai said the opposition should follow the constitution to remove the IEBC commissioners.
