Kanu leaders in Rift Valley are threatening to cause a major political revolution against Deputy President William Ruto and Jubilee.

They have expressed confidence that the party will win the Kericho senator March 7 by-election and also upset the 2017 general election.

Branch officials from Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi and Uasin Gishu counties said the former ruling party’s influence is growing in the Rift Valley and it will defeat Jubilee.

“Apart from what is happening in Kericho at the moment, we have started a massive campaign to ensure that Kanu regains its popularity ahead of 2017,” Benson Kiptire said.

He is the minority leader in Elgeyo Marakwet.

Kiptire spoke at a Kanu rally in Kapyiego ward on Tuesday.

He said Kanu will address most of the challenges affecting residents of the region.

Kiptire said members fully support party leader Gideon Moi (Baringo Senator).

Elgeyo Marakwet Kanu chairman Paul Kibet and provincial representative Jonathan Bii said Kanu will succeed where the Jubilee government has failed.

They spoke to the Star in Eldoret town yesterday.

The party’s candidate Paul Sang is a front runner in the Kericho mini poll.

Kiptire said Kanu will field candidates for all positions next year.

The party officials said they will back Moi for the presidency.

Kibet accused Jubilee of playing politics and not solving problems affecting farmers and other residents.

“We have asked residents of this region not to support Jubilee blindly. Kanu is the best party for the region and the country,” he said.
