KISII University, Baringo campus, yesterday requested the Commission for University Education to give them six months to refurbish Eldama Ravine and Kabarnet campuses.

The two are among 10 Kisii University campuses ordered closed by the commission for failure to meet standards.

Director Joseph Kandie told the press in his office the campuses serves students from poor families and they need more time to meet the requirements.

The two campuses were ordered closed due to lack of clean water, special facilities for students living with disability and standard lecture rooms.

“Students from Tot, Kapedo, lower Baringo North subcounty and Elgeyo Marakwet are in class and any disturbance will drive them back to the bush,” Kandie said.

Students also urged CUE not to close the campus.

Student Priscilla Nakomol said most students depend on bursaries.
