Kisii Governor Simba Arati has claimed a plot by his detractors to poison him.

He accused some forces uncomfortable with his style of leadership of wanting to see him dead.

He also said the plot to kill him was because he had sealed loopholes of graft.

"This plot to have me poisoned snowballed from a hatched plan to impeach me and now that they have failed, they now want to poison me " Arati said Wednesday evening.

He was speaking at Nyabisia Primary in Bobasi, Masige East during an initiation ceremony funded by area Ward Rep Jacob Bagaka.

At least 550 boys were initiated into adulthood during the function.

Bagaka, on his part, said it was time circumcision was funded by the government.

He especially lamented the continued neglect of the boy child by the country amid efforts to improve the welfare of girls.

"Let's get more intentional about the boy child. Even as we reach out to our girls, let's do something for our boys too," said Bagaka.

Governor Arati was invited to grace the function.

He claimed the plot to impeach him appeared to have failed to materialize after the Majority of MCAs vowed not to abandon him.

"There is a big politician, and you already know him, who sits somewhere to plot such a dirty game. He will not succeed," Arati stated.

Arati said he has already lost some key supporters to a gang being backed by the same politician.

At least 3 of his supporters had been butchered by the gang, he said.

"Why do you butcher youth with young families to fend for? If you're targeting me am here, just come but not young people being depended on by young children just accept am the governor now," Arati stated

Separately, he told the residents to stop perpetuating female genital mutilation vice among girls.

Women, he added, are robbed of the chance to enjoy their marriages by being forced to undergo the proscribed rite.

On malaria control, Arati said his administration plans to distribute three nets to each household across the 45 Wards.

On bursaries, he said plans are also underway to scale up the allocation to Sh 5m from Sh 3m to each ward.

Arati further said more than 400 km of roads would be done by February.

He also asked chiefs to help deal those with who destroyed roads in the villages.

On his scorecard, Arati said he has already done 108 ECDE classes and another 145 will be done in the next few months.

Being a holiday season, Arati implored parents to nurture their daughters rightly and with correct discipline.

"We must have honest conversations on these issues so that we can raise a children society," said Arati.
