Tension in Siaya as MCAs debate deputy governor impeachment

Tension is building up outside the Siaya County Assembly ahead of the debate of the Siaya deputy governor William Oduol Denge's impeachment motion.

Anti-riot police in a Landcruiser were spotted conducting surveillance at the Assembly.

The impeachment motion was moved by East Asembo MCA Gordon Onguru at 9:30 am.

Inside the Chamber, a private film firm had set up cameras by 9:00 am ready to Live Stream the impeachment process.

Usually, the Siaya County Assembly live streams 'special events' only.

The Assembly staff had also made arrangements and a voting booth was set at the chamber.

Shortly after 9:00 am, the MCAs went into the chamber in a huff for a closed-door informal session ahead of the formal debate.

Yesterday, the Siaya ODM Coordinating Committee expelled Oduol from the ODM party.

The Committee also demanded his removal as soon as possible.

Last Friday, a section of the MCAs who attended a fundraiser in East Asembo ward vowed to send Oduol home.
